Stone houses are reminiscent of old laid-back countryside in the bygone eras. They are a textbook example of how humans ingeniously use locally available materials to create long-lasting and stable shelters that will stand the test of time. But what happens when a customer presents an architecture with an already constructed house and requires them to style it up with stones? Will they demolish it or think outside the box by going for a stone siding house? The latter is the cheapest way of adding the beauty of stone features to a home. Stone sidings are basically cultured natural stone veneers or faux stone panels used to introduce a stone accent in modern homes. Stone house sidings are available online at affordable costs and in a wide variety of styles, sizes and designs suitable for home and business complexes.
There are three modern ways in which a stone siding for a house is made. The first way is the cutting method. In this method, engineers scour mines to identify stones with desirable characteristics such as uniformity, strength and hardness. After a rock has been found, it will be cut into blocks. The blocks for stone siding for houses will then be transported to a factory. In the factory, large blocks will be cut into smaller blocks with predetermined width and length. The smaller blocks are then sliced into house stone siding. Finally, the thin slices are sanded down and polished before being packaged and distributed to customers.
In the second method, ground stones are mixed with cement and binders to form a concrete aggregate. The aggregate is then placed in molds to dry out, forming a stone house siding. Contrary to slicing, this method is faster and produces more uniform siding. However, concrete sidings are not as beautiful as natural stone siding.
Lastly, using high-density polyurethane, manufacturers melt and mix the plastic with stabilizers and colors to create faux sliding stones. The process is automated and creates many sidings faster and better. On the downside, it is difficult to create high-density polyurethane slides that have the same texture as natural stones. Besides that, the light faux sidings wear out quickly.
Before installing stone siding on a house, customers need to calculate the amount and cost of material needed. This is easily calculated by determining a home's surface area and sharing it with online wholesalers for recommendations based on a customer's preferences. After buying and transporting the materials to the construction site, the next step is preparing the wall. This involves scraping paint and mold growths off the wall. In exterior projects, a water vapor membrane is then installed on the walls and frames.
In professional projects, a metal lath may be installed on the wall and later covered with mortar. Before the mortar dries out, it must be scratched with a metal scraper. The groves and ridges left behind form a strong bond with binders used on stone sidings. But for small DIY projects, there is no need to invest in lath. Instead, stone siding is installed with a binder (cement + water) to the wall directly. A sealant is added between stone veneers to keep everything beautiful.
