About burkini

Burkini refers to a female swimsuit showing only the front of the face, hands, and feet. The Burkini complies with Islamic regulations for female clothing and is, therefore, worn by many Muslim women. As the Burkini can cover large areas of the body, some women also wear it to protect themselves from the sun.

Differences between burqas and burkinis

The main difference between the Burqa and the Burkini lies in the purpose for which they were designed and the scenarios in which they are used. The Burkini is a specially designed swimming costume that allows Muslim women to keep their bodies covered during water activities. The Burqa, on the other hand, refers to the traditional dress of women in Arab and some Islamic countries and is the rule of these countries. When wearing it, women are wrapped tightly from head to toe and can only see the outside world through a small piece of netting in front of them. Traditionally, the Burqa has a dark color scheme, but the lining can be red, yellow, white, or orange for women to choose from. As times changed, the Burqa began to incorporate different designs into itself. Nowadays, there is a gradual emergence of fitted, waisted burkas. Embroidery and beading also gain popularity among women of a wide range of ages.

Materials of Burkinis

Burkini swimwear uses quality materials to ensure elasticity and durability. Polyester fiber is one of the commonly used materials for swimwear. Among them, nylon is a synthetic fiber made by chemical methods. It is lightweight, abrasion-resistant, and has quick-drying properties that make it suitable for water sports apparel. Spandex is another popular material. One of them, Lycra, also known as spandex, is a very elastic and stretchy fiber. This material stretches more strongly than rubber and is also more resistant to abrasion. In addition, this material is resistant to the damage caused to swimsuits by chlorine in bleach and disinfectant water. It is also less susceptible to mold and deformation. Unlike the previous materials, modal is a natural fiber. It is very soft and has good breathability. Modal is commonly used to blend with other materials to make swimsuits, making them more comfortable to wear.

Types of Burkinis

As a women's swimsuit, Burkini come with various types of designs while showing respect for the traditions of Muslim culture. Today, many women's Burkinis can look roughly similar in design at first glance, but there are some variations in the details. The traditional long Burkini usually consists of a long-sleeved top, long pants, and a hijab. Some burkini have additional sun protection features, utilizing fabrics with UV protection to protect the wearer's skin from UV rays. In addition, as the number of wearers grows, more colorful and stylish designs are being incorporated into the Burkini to meet the wearer's need for style and individuality. Today's Burkini comes in a variety of patterns and designs in addition to the monotonous dark colors.

Many athletes and swimmers also wear Burkinis. Sporty Burkinis are usually made with more flattering designs and stretchy materials. A short-sleeved burkini can provide a flexible sporting experience. In addition to swimming, the sport burkini can also be used for a variety of water sports, such as surfing and riding water rides.
